take case off > and pop out dvd reader. Then pop out fans then turn on , leave till 2 red lights glow up. pull power n leave for an hour , if that that dont cure it then try making a heatsink and instaling No, no, no, if your going to do it - do it right; Light a small fire, open your Xbox up while the fire gets burning nicely Place your Xbox in it for 2-3 hours (this is known as the baking method) and take it out Now let it cool for minimum of 45 minutes, put it all back together and test it out Jesus Christ....the Xbox doesn't even get hot enough to get anywhere close to the melting point of the solder. gigabite

nope i'm still alive i'll be trying some stuff today (yes I replaced the actual cathode itself) - 600-800v that high to run this pissy little thing, meh (oh and yes I don't know much about LCD screens...laptops well I'm not going to say I know alot but I know alot about PC's so I figure most of it's the same ) EDIT: Ok, I changed the polarity - nothing - tried all the function buttons - nothing seems it is the LCD inverter now to hopefully find one. EDIT AGAIN: Ok sweet, got a brand new inverter (brand new inverter and a brand new back light should hopefully work *pls pls pls*) on it's way Just a question, is there anyway to check the polarity of the actual cathode (the back light), and could it blow if installed the wrong way ? ... my theory is if you put an led the wrong way in it doesn't work but works fine when you put it the right way, so i'm thinking the cathode is the same Place I bought it from says "Note: there is no polarity on CCFL Lamp, So you can solder either end to the wires." gigabite

I havn't tried inverting the actual back light itself (maybe I thought at first the polarity was wrong) - two people have told me the inverter...what exactly is that ? Ahhh just did a quick search...I re-flowed that whole board manually (that's where the fuse came from that I was referring to) and I will check out those function keys (I did see a few that I thought hmm but didn't play with because the back light never turned on). I'll play with it tomorrow and let you know, thanks heaps gigabite

Kreon....yes it supports Dual Layer disks (every Xbox 360 game is DL, 1 mili-second of reading) What if I got an iso that was not ripped with Krane, then I would need to flash right? I think you have taken this Kreon thing like so; if it's ripped with Kreon it appears to be original therefore you can play without flashing firmware....that is not the case. Kreon is a firmware that is used on specific drives to back-up Xbox 360 games...once they are backed-up and burned you can play them in your Xbox 360 IF it's flashed gigabite

no prob the world is built on secrets When I say process is secret...well it may sound selfish but really if bill gates gave away the source code to Windows do you think he would still be making (as much) money ? Money makes the world go round, a small price to pay to have a small piece of happiness gigabite

If you ripped games with your xbox dvd-rom, wouldn't you have to flash the firmware each time? Once for ripping, then once back again to play? Yeap unless you anything other than a Lite-On and had some old firmware flashed with 0800 code (or F900 core), then just throw in the 0800 disk and wala - kreon drives get my vote gigabite
