yeah I meant now I know (it was suggested to me by a friend who does laptop repairs but I already ordered the backlight) lucky I can solder also because after installing the inverter (like properly not just a test fit) it would cut on and off every time it was moved. Turned out to be a cold solder joint on one end of an SMD cap (my favorite ) gigabite

basically, when you install it what happens is it copies the update to your HDD or MU...inside what it copies to your actual console is basically know as the RRoD file ($RRD.BIN located in the FS - [ File System ]).
This can be remotely triggered (i.e Xbox LIVE), set to a time/date or specific game - you can get rid of it but only once you open your console (theirs always a trick isn't there) thus voiding your warranty so you can't send it back to them...money grabbing bastards

(he's referring to fw hacking), 79Unlock is to unlock the drive once it's in modeB (via the use of Slax) so that you can write to it...this needs to be done successfully otherwise you can only read the drive. Post more info, use punctuation, it helps

@ Gigabite: Quote $#!t...my bad if you look here ( http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/nxe/) under the improvement etc, it says "Changed the way hacked consoles will respond to burnt media - now only loading most back-ups" -> So i guess Xbox did change something in this update so that it stops some back-ups from working... -> Where exactly did you find this statements or the improvement section on the xbox-site? (i looked for it but could not find it & would like to read it myself just to confirm) BAAAAAAHAHAHAHA i'm going to fall off my chair XD, this has to be the best line ever gigabite

I think he wants to do this "so he dosen't get banned on XBL".......correct ??
If yes, then no that won't work because your console still logs that you have played a bad back-up OFFLINE

it's simple, de-solder it...then re-solder a new one (ahh from my research quite a while ago IIRC you can use either ethernet chip, there are 2 kinds : one that you can see the pins, and one that you can't). Depending on which ethernet chip you have, if you have the one where you can see the legs then coat them all with solder and leave a big solder blob on them on each side. If you have the ethernet chip where you can't see the legs, it will be a little harder to de-solder (as you can't wet the legs, which helps when de-soldering) but nevertheless your still going to be using a heatgun to do it. As for soldering, if you have the ethernet chip where you can see the legs then this job is easy...wet all the pads on the board, wet/clean all the legs of the chip (this is done by using a large amount of solder and running it across the legs...very easy). Sit the chip in place and solder each corner leg so it doesn't move when you try to do the rest. If you have the chip where you can't see the legs then your going to need to use a heatgun carefully to re-attach it good luck (btw wrong section..) gigabite

oh ffs... -> Since all the games I backed up myself still work, this update might only stop backups that are made/burned in a specefic way (I do not know how exactly the 50+ backups i bought with the console were made) Yeah, you know what...your right...a FIRMWARE update (i.e from Xtreme to iXtreme) will stop your non-stealth games running There is for sure something in this update that is different from before concerning backup-games. I might try to downgrade to previous updates (if that's possible) & see if the backup'd games can be played again... No that's not possible...if it were we'd all be running hacked dashes by now (look up "efuses" just to get a taste) I think this topic needs to be locked, I mean it's honestly going nowhere - you have disagreed with the admin (who actually does know what he is talking about unlike your other typical "l00k I hack3d my xb0x" forums)....actually whatever figure it out yourself $#!t...my bad if you look here ( http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/nxe/) under the improvement etc, it says "Changed the way hacked consoles will respond to burnt media - now only loading most back-ups" EDIT: neonpolaris \\ Anyone want to test NXE with a really old firmware, and non-stealth discs?
I did....and they work exactly the same Perhaps it's not the update, but they share a common factor........... exactly gigabite

Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: Are The Jasper Mount Points The Same As On A Xenon Motherboard?

actually mate n00bpwner360 is right...I am looking at a Xenon ground shield and a Falcon ground shield (literally right in front of me) which is the same as a Jasper...and the Falcons av port screw holes are in fact closer together then the Xenon's I put an Xenon board in and every other screw hole matches minus the AV port...you kind of get half the motherboard and 1/4 the screw hole in the space of the actual screw holes (read it twice), and the cut-out where the AV connector goes (so you can plug in your cable) is halfway down the actual AV connector... pics (sorry there absolutely ridiculous - don't even say, but you can see what i'm talking about) gigabite

if it helps i was banned about 2 years ago and have not had any updates since. this does not matter... so your saying it worked for a week then went dead ? what type of media are you using (brand), did you touch the lense of the laser at all when installing (after I have installed a new laser I always clean it just to be safe) if you say Verbatim...and you have cleaned your laser (and/or didn't touch it) then i'd say tweak it though it shouldn't need to be. Maybe it's just me, but has anyone noticed alot of the lasers (new...as in actually new from the factory not refurbished..so I hope) are either not working or dying quickly (or need a pot tweak) In some cases for me it seems the fault is actually lying in the drive and not the actual laser...and these are ones that haven't been touched [by some 6 year old and his dad's friends help and a soldering iron ] and haven't really been over worked if you want to call it that - - Mostly Samsungs, but some Hitachi's (both old and new models) gigabite
