Ok tried alternative d0 point and it still frags....i'm gonna burn slayers to a disk and see if that could work as well as the evo x dash (not that either of those two will probably work), I noticed something while I was soldering, teh chip only works if I have soldered the BT wire on otherwise it does nto work (still frags), but I also noticed something else, instead of having to pull out one wire form teh pin header I have to pull out 3 1 in the useal spot and the other two because the pcb on the duo x2 dosn't have holes there, my mod-chip also did not come with any instructions. Anywayz i'm off to burning and see if that works if not then I can't do anything else. EDIT: Ok, tried slayers disk and it loads up because I can here it in teh drive (samsung so it will boot cd-rw plus I have the mod-chip on) but nothing comes upon the screen or I here no audio, I guess there is no point in trying evo x, should I sell teh Samsung drive for money on eBay and sell the mobo and hdd (as a pair) as well as the psu and case?

ha ha lol, yeap no audio or video and fragging, the seller on eBay said that oneday he was playing a game and it froze and "the light comes on but no ones home" I discovered a little solder bridge next to the nvidia mcpx chip that i definently did not make so i cleaned it and just to be on teh safe side made a wire bridge for it, but I stil get fraging, anywayz where do I get this focus ic chip from and how much is it going to cost? I live in Australia so I need an Asutralian site or eBay, thanks for your help gigabite

Ok coma fix does not work for me, and I still have the eject button problem, where when I push the power button it stays a solid green then restarts then solid green then restarts and on teh third time red then green, but when I push teh eject button (after I have urned it off) I get flashing green restart flashing green restart red and green and these last two coma fixes I plugged the HDD in.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I have de-soldered teh mod-chip before I performed the coma fix and my idea, I also tried the 2nd solder point, no luck and still same weird problem with eject button, i'll try the last solder point (soldering 18 and 19 together) to see if it works and report back. Just incase anyone didn't know, the coma fix is for version 1.0 and 1.1 xboxs as the BIOS (TSOP) is 1mb and can be divided into 4 banks (correct me if i'm wrong). Thanks everyone hope someone can help solve this problem,

K new problem, been doing some reasearch tried the "getting xbox out of a coma" and it didn't work but I still have to try the other two solder points, anywayz unsoldered it cleaned it up, got another idea!! What if I get a wire from pin 5 of teh LCP bus on teh back of the mobo and wire it to teh hole where it starts from...tried didn't work, but I noticed (I did not have any hdd dvd rom attached at this point) that when I power on with the power button, it will turn green, restart, turn green, restart turn green for a little then flash red and green...but when I power on with teh eject button (pin 5 wire idea still attached) it will flash green restart, flash green, restart then red and green, this also happened when I did the "coma fix" but I will try teh other two solder points with that idea and post back what happens, any help ??!!

I am absolutely sure that I did destroy pin 5 on the LCP bus (on teh top of the mobo) but I was supposed to b working on teh back (I was just making the hole bigger for teh wire), I just bought some very thin wire, the proper kind your supposed to use, re soldered pin 5 of the LCP bus with the mod-chip installed and still got fragging. Scaned the mobo for anything and even gave it a lite cleaning with some metholayted spryrits on a cotten tip (not to much) just to see if it was dust or try and pick up something, I spent 5 min on the front and back scanning it and about another five on each side cleaning it so no dirt or solder bridges or anything. Checked all my soldering again, de-solder whatever I could and re-did it, except the pin header which I already had to do once (always make sure you have it in the right spot first!!) but I did clean whatever solder I could off the pins and then redo them. This is really frustrating trying to figure out what this is i'm just about ready to put it back together and re-sell it on eBay and buy another faulty xbox or something. I know the alternative would be to buy another mobo but they are $85 (AU) on eBay, if anyone wants to sell me a mobo lol contact me on e-mail or here or PM me lol. Well hope someone can help me, thanks

Hi everyone ...Xbox 1.1, Duo X2... I'll start from the start, I received my faulty xbox from eBay, opened it up checked what version it was turns out 1.1, powered it on for the first time and it gives me red and orange flashing (just like the seller described) so I researched the problem, answer, pin 5 of the LCP bus is not making contact with the via (reset signal), so I take some wire get it all nice...*problem starts* I thought I would "scrape" off a little bit of the stuff (plastic and small amount of trace) to reval the gold little hole where I would then stick teh wire through and fix..wrong!! Instead (supposed to be working on teh back of teh mobo) I absolutely destroyed teh pad (on the top, thought I would make the hole bigger) with a very small stanley knife (not a regular size like an "axo knife" or whatever it is)...soldered some wire from pin 5 of the LCP bus (via to someother little black thing with 101 on it, got instructions from xbox repair guide 2.1 dvd)..started up xbox and got fraging, check soldering did it again smae thing, tried the top (following the trace then making a bridge with wire) no luck, even tried from LPC bus to this 101 thing no luck....left it alone and went to bed, day 2 got mod chip installed it (after one stuff up of putting pin header into wrong part but fixed that, de-soldered and use de-solder braid to perfectly kleen the holes) turned it on and fraged. I noticed that the light wasn't working so I checked my soldering and decided to do the "eject trick hack" or solder from the mod-chip to the BT. Turned Xbox on and still fraged, checked all solder joints etc tried different banks (using duo x2 rember) still no luck (but mod-chip light was flashing which means working). I get no audio or video (cable connected properly and bran new), the only other thing I can add...when I first installed the mod-chip (had power cable out) as soon as I put teh power cable in it started without even needing to push teh button, and when I turned it off it would immediatelly turn back on this happened about 6 times before I pulled teh plug out, the seller said that oneday when he was playing a game it froze and he restarted and then it just kept flashing red and orange..he didn't mention it had been opened but it looked as if he hadn't even taken the hdd or dvd drive out which did I mention is a...Samsung !!! I scaned teh board for any work that has been tried and everything looked good, the only other mod I performed on this xbox was the 12v fan mod (at least something worked). So sorry for teh long post, quick re-cap...xbox orange and red, soldered wire to fix fraged, de soldered, fraged, installed duo x2, fraged, fixed installation of duo x2 so that duo x2 is working but still fraging. Well I hope someone can help me thanks gigabite

Oh thanks, I did read about that but it said bank 0 was flashed with X2 something and bank 1 was flashed with M8 BIOS Plus, which is only for Xbox 1.6, so if I boot to bank zero so it will work how do I install M8 BIOS (I checked and there is M8 which works for all and M8 Plus)? Oh and where do I pick up an auto installer....wait I have to make the files I downloaded into an ISO and then it will work... I think I might be right im not sure...

Ok, now I am going to put a mod-chip in this Xbox (Duo X2 (Blue), now after soldering and all that the first time I boot (havn't soldered it on yet just asking) what does it do. I heard someone say it asks for your BIOS image which you want to flash your mod chip with, you insert the disk and all goes well, then what happens? Is that correct? Another thing is, where do I get the EvoX M8 BIOS from, I have EvoX M7 BIOS but I can't find/ don't know where to find this BIOS. I would appreciate someone telling me exactly what happens from teh moment I first turn it on with the mod chip installed right up to the finish, thank you gigabite !!

Ok, my question..will a mod-chip fix everything, I mean as long is ok hardware wise a mod-chip will fix every problem correct? Or a mod-chip and maybe Slayers EvoX 2.6 Disk, but I mean as long as everything is ok hardware wise a mod-chip should fix any problem. If not, could you please give some situatiions where a mod-chip will not fix the problem (as long is ok hardware wise)...thanks

Xbox1 (original) / Xbox1 General / Question about Xbox cases
|
on: May 26, 2006, 08:10:31 PM
|
Ok, so I know that you can get replace ment cases (Xbox case with nothing in it) but, will all versions of Xboxs fit into the same case (1.0-1.6b)? It sounds a little stupid I know but I ask because, I know the outside of the case is teh same but maybe the holes for where you put the motherboard or psu or somehting are different so you can't put say an xbox version 1.1 inot a case because it only takes 1.3 upwards or something like that. Can anybody answer my question? thnaks gigabite !!

So does anyone know whether this method will work? And what do you think of the X2 Duo Mod-Chip ? I only needed the cheapest thing to rescue me, not for pirate games and I don't intend to play pirate games on it, I could even put cromwell BIOS on it to make it legal if I wanted anywayz this is like this last kind of little part I need help with then I should be alright! Good work guys (I have just finished reading the Xbox Repair Guide 2.1 (Full Copy) I read nearly all of it except for some of the modding bit's. Keep up the good work guys thanks gigabite

I am a newbie here so I may be wrong but someone will probably correct me....if you are sayying that you have acsess to the hard drive (dunno about modifications, standard etc) then connect it to your PC (if need be set jumpers to slave on a channel with another drive) now..there is a tool called Live Update (latest version is Beta 3 but I myself have Beta 2) if you wan it search google for Live Update Beta 2 (that's how I found it) i'm not sure whether i'm allowed to post the link but if you search google you'l find it within the first few results, now what it actually does it gives you info about your Xbox hard drive, it (if I remember correctly) can read eeprom backups and detrmine Xbox version I.P's everything including...hard drive password! What you do (never done it myself) is select the drive (scroll down box you'll know which one it is) and it will show info for that drive including Xbox password...now only problem is your going to need to un-lock the drive (I think) so that your PC can acsess it. It will recognise it etc but you will not be bale to open it and change files etc, I do not know whether the HDD has to be unlocked for this tool to work but I would give it a try (nothing will break). Correct me if i'm wrong (never used the tool before only had a quick look at it) gigabite !

Ok I had a chat with one of teh members who helped me better understand why I coudln't do things (just a bit of a slow learner), now i know I need a mod-cip so I just thought i'll get the cheapest seeing as i'm not in it for the games and probably will not end up playing any burnt games etc on it, only buying it cause i need it....after looking craefully at what chips were avaliable to me and the price range I have chose the X2 Duo Mod-Chip cheapest for me (around $38AU inc postage and handeling)..after looking up installation guides I have decided I will do a pinheader installation, I found a guide by one of our own members Arakon at http://www.duomodchip.com/english/install/pinheader.jpg (just remove the link if i'm not allowed to post it) I was wondering if there was somewhere where I could pick up a very detailed guide with pictures, and maybe some sort of dictionary (example TSOp is rararar) thanks guys your help has been excellent and very much appreciated gigabite

What if I was to get an unlocked hard drive off eBay fit it and then could I run the disk? I think this is why I cannot run this disk without a mod...because the mod chip can read DVD-R or CD-RW right? (if that is true then how ocme I can do it on PS2?) I have made a back up of a dvd and burnt it onto a DVD-R and played it in a non chipped PS2 and it worked perfectly. Could I FTP into the Xbox (without dash is it possible?) and just replace the missing files (off the slayers disk?) and then run the Xbox (bing working) run slayers disk so I could erase everyhting and make it like new again (i'm a little fussy over deleteing things they have to be formatted then re-installd over lol!)?? Is this all possible without a mod chip (really do not want to install one) EDIT : Woooo I found teh solution, if it has a tompson drive replace it with a samsung, I have heard that they can play all types of media, including CD-RW's and DVD-R's (slayer disk one step closer). I know it is a simple procsess to, open un-plug plug in play, after I have replaced it with a Samsung drive (if it dosn't have one) I can use Slayers Disk correct? Will I have any problems fitting a new drive (i'm excelent with computers) as in will it pick it up or do I have to flash BIOS (TSOP) or anything, or is it just simply plug and play?? Thanks guys
