Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Ring Of Lights (Controller)
|
on: November 19, 2006, 02:32:44 AM

|
Hey guys, I have been looking into a way I can have all the leds on in the controller at once. So far I have blown up one controller (but i got a replacement store was so dumb!!:D), the only method I have come up with so far is....to solder a wire on to the 5v+pin of the controller and just attach it to one of the positive sides of any SMD l.e.d. This powers them all but they are not at there full voltage, if I add a resistor to it still the same, if I connect a resistor and a positive to an led then only that led powers on. If you use it without a resistor it blows up. One thing I also noticed is that with the positive wire attached (resistor or not) when you put it into the 360 the lights come on and stay on even when you have turned the console on, the reason this happens is so that the 360 can be powered on with the X button. So has anyone had an idea better than mine, maybe it has already been done?? But has it been done so the console is off and the lights are on and at full power.
Any ideas appreciated,

All I can say is, look for the video on youtube and maybe based upon eye and distance from pieces to pieces you might get an idea of it (I have not done it btw). Otherwise if not keep trying, it's not like they are expensive (and if they are to expensive for you then what are you doing with a 360 ) don't worry you will get it. Then you can come back and help others out by telling them the size that worked for you gigabite

Well first go to Xbox scene, look for the tutorial on how to open the 360 by andatech. Go around to almost the end of it and it will say how to remove the heat sink clips (you actually have to remove the 360 motherboard from the case if ya didn't know). I had some trouble with this (and alot of cuts on my hands ). I found a better way then what they have mentioned...use a 2.4mm flathead and insert it on the top of the clip and bend it upwards, it sort of bends a little bit (don't worry it won't break or wreck your 360 in anyway) once you have done that to all four sides (of either heatsink, you only need to do the gpu (big flat heatsink) for the heat gun trick) use some small pliers and put the under the actual clip, Pry upwards and if you do it correctly it should come off, once you have done it you will notice and relies how the actual clip fits onto the little upwards metal bit;) If you still can't get it send it to someone who has done it (like me or a friend) then you should be set ! gigabite

Yes that drive will work (btw you don't have to get a Hitachi you could go for a Samsung or other version of a Hitachi), but it will only work if you have a copy of your original dvd drive key. Once you have that (if you do) order this replacement drive, put it in...get the firmware off it, inject your key into it then reflash it back to the replacement drive. Now you have a normal dvd drive (if you have updated your console with the fall update then you might get an error but just use the latest firmware for your drive if so) oh...and READ gigabite

Also make sure your burning your back ups properly with the right regions and using high quality media (like Verbatim). If you know of anyone else who has successfully done it then try and play one of there back ups (assuming they are from the same region),

You have no garentee that you will no see error 0102 (three red lights of death..), in fact you probably will. When you do, do the hot gun fix or send it to someone to do it if your afraid or it doesn't work (i'll do it for you;))

If you did nothing to it, then GET YOUR DVD AS FAST YOU CAN (read please do not ask). Your drive sounds like it's dying, so if you get your DVD key you can replace it with another one. If you tried to flash it then try again but make sure you copied the correct location where your key was and make sure you pasted it in the right location (if your using hex editor).

Just did this to my console (via downloaded file not XBL) using my USB keyboard (OFF TOPIC: I accidentally blew up my controller, yeah probably the first n00b to do it lol - was doing very cool experiments until I plugged it in and smoke arose form the controller hahah think it's a transistor but i'm taking it back to the store:D anyway) it worked. For all others...I opened it with Winzip 10 and I burned the files onto a Phillips DVD + R with Nero Express (Data DVD) at the fastest I could (which was 8x). No problems at all, except after the update was applied and the console restarted it asked me for a HD-DVD player, just sat there. So i restarted and it went back to the dash no problems at all! Thank you very much for this gigabite

Ok this is how you back up (copy) Xbox 1 games. Once you have a chipped or softmodded Xbox, FTP into it. Put the game you wish to back up in the dvd drive but do not play it. In your FTP program (assuming you are connected to your Xbox) browse to D drive. highlight everything in there (ctrl+a) then copy that to a folder with nothing in it. Once it is all done copy files to your hard drive from the xbox, download a program called Qwix (search g00gle it's in the first page, don't ask because it's not allowed). Open Qwix, the first time you open it a box will pop up saying something about FTP connections, just press ok. Press Create ISO button on the left hand side, click the little white circle next to "Local Folder". Look across to the right at the top and you will see a button like this ... (on the same like as "Local Folder", press it and choose the folder which you put your game into (on your hard drive). Now you do not have to open that folder that you have the game in, just highlight it. Once done press ok, now press the Create ISO button, choose where you want to save the ISO. Once it's finished, get a burning program like Nero Burning ROM (not Express, must be burning rom) or Imgburn. I will show you how to use Nero Burning ROM (I have version 7 of Nero). Once it's opened close the first box that has already popped up. You should be at a Grey screen with some buttons up the top. Press recorder, burn image. Choose the ISO file you made with Qwix (wherever you put it) and press open. For Write Speed do no more than 8x on high quality media (Verbatim, you best off using these anyway), now insert your blank DVD+R into your DVD burner and press burn. Once it's all done it will work if you have done it correctly.

If you want to back up 360 games, then you will need a DVD drive that supports bit setting (depending if you have Hitachi or Samsung) and it will also need to support DVD+R DL. But as Arakon said, the Pioneer 111D drives are very cheap (to be exact $40 over in Australia) ;0

First of, get yourself a copy of Slayers 2.6 or 2.7 (don't ask it's not allowed search). Once you have that search around and you will find an option like "backup EEPROM" do that. After it's completed FTP into your box and it will be there. Garenteed to work gigabite

Just buy a Duo X2...get Slayers (2.6 or 2.7 which ever), put in your replacement HDD (most can be locked/unlocked) then unlock it using Slayers put whatever you want to put on it then lock it again. Done, cheapest method available matey gigabite

If you can still FTP to your box (if you set up the setting correctly) then you can find that program on a Slayers 2.6 disk (search don't ask as it's not allowed). Once you have that come back here and either I or someone else will tell you the buttons you have to push to get it back to PAL (seeing as NTSC isn't working for you).

Hold on, if you only want to burn an Xbox 1 game, then all you need to have is a burner that is capable of burning DVD+R. You only need the bit setting burners for the Xbox 360. BTW you need your Xbox either Softmodded Or Chipped gigabite

Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Which Firmware Do I Flash 4.2a or 4.2b (I have read forums!!)
|
on: November 17, 2006, 07:50:14 PM

Hey guys, I have all the correct files and stuff and the latest firmware release by C4E (from xbins). Now when I take a look into the rar files (Xtreme42.rar) there is xtrem42a and xtrem42b. Whats the difference between A and B? I also have the rar file (Xtreme42_update.rar) and that has even more files in it. I know that if you are getting E66 (from updating on XBL) you use some of the files in there (so it reports back to the 360 as being for example an MS28 or whatever you choose). I have read the forums and the tutorial that was on Xboxscene (HitachiSamsungTutorialV40Merged) but that tutorial uses Xtreme 3.0. Someone please help me, I know how to get my DVD drive key already (just gotta get a sata card or sata mobo lol ). I have a Samsung ms25, I really want to be able to play my original xbox games on the 360 as well as 360 games! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks gigabite EDIT: I also have Xtreme_Package_Samsung.rar (from xbins) (and the XDK stuff for reading the key)

Let me get this straight, you want the key form the DVD drive (assuming your not talking about the hiatchi-lg v78)...first off, you are correct that the key is 16 bytes big (and it also contains 32 characters in hex format). To get your drive key you need a back up of your original firmware...once you have that open it up in a hex editor and copy the location from $4000-4200. That is your dvd drive key...if you want it read straight out (like for example 12 ex 34 gh 56 ij 78 lm etc) then your going to need a program. You'll have to search (and you should have already) around xboxscene.com and where ever else. Your lucky you didn't get flamed as you should have...
