Your key IS NOT, in the right place. That is 100% your problem...use firmware toolbox it's easier (BTW you don't need to encrypt firmware) copy key from Hitachi, open up Samsung firmware (hacked or orig, i'd go orig first) then paste...flash etc then do hacked...

I suspect the gold strip your talking about is the type of strips they use on HDD's sometimes, you can't peel them of without leaving some behind or breaking it...dunno why they bothered to use strips on those drives (not like any of us are gonna try vcc trick on it:p - we got no reason to open it up) ahh M$ :p Try restoring etc like people have said..

you'll just need to reprogram the eeprom with an original or hacked firmware (in encrypted form and keyed) with the supplied software.[\quote]

Not to high jack the thread (bu it's better than making a new one as people say) but i'm getting the correct programmer and socket etc very soon (Williem and yes I have checked versions etc etc)...after I de-solder the chip and hook it all up (say it's a bad flash) all I do is run the restore.bat file correct, or do I manually put the origional firmware (from you package OPA) on to the drive?
