Well based on what I have discussed with you on MSN pin 5 on the lpc bus is not making contact, I think either keep trying or send it to a professional to take a look at (unless you can provide super high quality photos so we can see traces etc)

2263  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Question about drive swapping on: February 05, 2007, 03:00:07 AM
^^ true but some people say that for 78's you can dump the firmware if your lucky with a SIL but generally you get errors in FW toolbox and can't flash the drive, that's what I have heard anyway

OPA is very busy you must understand, just because you don't hear talk about this kind of development doesn't mean he isn't working on it right now as we speak (maybe he is lol i don't know)

2265  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: quick question... on: February 05, 2007, 02:48:47 AM
Well he will save (or should save) the dump as a .bin file, all you have to do is open that bin file in firmware toolbox and it will tell you everything about the firmware

Nope definently not lol I have been speaking with Sylv1A since this problem has started and I know for a fact that he had the same prob you had grady, what makes it a little bit harder for him is that he has a 1.6mobo

2267  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Hitachi's Dying out of the blue. on: February 04, 2007, 09:11:00 PM
Personally, I would try using the latest OPA firmware (2.3 rev 2) and if your still getting errors perform a pot tweak...also nothing should be ground away so something is not where it's supposed to be maybe just by a fraction or something.  I hear alot of people on this board talk about noises from the drive but I have never had any problems with that kind of thing.  I even totally dissembled every single thing in one of my Hitachi drives and put it back together and it still didn't have any problems or noises.  I'd probably try taking every single thing apart if you are getting noises and inspecting it all and putting it back together (I mean everything every single screw lol).

Have you tried taking out all devices except for the card itself? (IDE out etc)  Also if your still having problems try moving the card to another slot, this helps sometimes because of IRQ conflicts and stuff

Well I think that they haven't changed anything (apart from the production boxes - boxes now made are a bit better IMHO) but I am looking forward to when the new 65nm CPU's come out, I will buy one of these boxes and hopefully they have sorted out the red lights error (going to be a bit tricky to tell the old from the new apart without opening unless they have the HDMI port's).  Basically it is still a possibility to get red lights but I have seen it less on newer boxes

2271  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: PAL to NTSC on: February 03, 2007, 06:03:03 PM
It doesn't matter whether you TV supports NTSC and PAL (mine does both) if you have a game that's not made for your region (for the Xbox 360) you cannot play it, you will get a region error.

Ya I knew I shouldn't have posted my ideas, I realize what I said was probably "pro piracy" in a way but in some ways I am against it (I myself do not sell pirated content or use pirated content (not worth the risk) )...sure I can mod a console so it plays pirated content (and so can others) but I have never showed anyone how to get pirated content and I probably never will because it's just not something you should get involved in IMHO (xboxexpert.....we all probably read what happened agesss ago).

and even brags on x-s about expanding his "BUSINESS" into WII
Ahhh first thing, I am not registered on xboxscene (or maybe I am but I think I only posted one thread asking for help wayyy back about an xbox and that was it) second thing...bragging is one or two lines about sayying how I hope to be able to add the Wii to the list of things I can do is it???  BTW I thought this thread was entitled "Free and frank exchange of views on piracy" but it seems not if one can't have his own opinion based on what he believes...I aim at trying to help as many people I can, I make tutorials so things are easier for the next person and they don't have to go through the trouble that I may have gone through...i'd like to see some of your tutorials one day...

EDIT: This is the only thing I have said about expanding my business as you say (if you can show me more I kindly apologize)

I find thougth some people are very ery two faced and only put on the "Pricry is wrong" face when infact they are the biggest pirates of all time.
That is true, fact is if games and software allll that was alot cheaper people wouldn't have any problem buying it (and also partly if it were supplied alot quicker to people...example...I live in Australia and we are just starting to get the HD addon's soon (says xboxscene), that's just ridicules).  I do understand that people work hard for what they publish but piracy is piracy and that is life...if producers of things didn't want them to be copied that should sit down a little longer and work on better copy protection.  Personally, if I developed something (for example an operating system that is on 90% of PC's in the world) and I spent along time on it and I got rich (and was/am still getting money) then I would be happy to know that it is my work that others want.  I'd be proud that they are trying to copy my work, the only reason someone wants to copy something and sell it is because they love it so much that they believe others should have it too ?.  As long as the internet is up (or something like that in say 30 years or more..) piracy will never go away.  Why pay money for something when you can get something that's exactly the same for free, right ?  Well that's just my opinion anyway, I know people say it "harms" other people to pirate things but "the industry"/producers have enough money already and the small margin out of the percentage of sales that are pirated is quite small.

2274  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: .sav file editing on: February 03, 2007, 01:09:25 AM
Yes I too thought the save game files were signed also so editing them would lead to an invalid signature meaning it would not be read

^^ lol ripped straight from xs...no display and 3 red lights, I had this (and fix them) the other day, just do the "heat gun trick" and you will get your console back to life.  Also try find out the error code (example 0102), you probably do have 0102 which is a cold solder joint on the GPU

Yes the trace (even when not modded) could be cracked damaged broken etc, open it up and try a jump wire.  If the CPU was dead then I have a high feeling it would have flashed red/green not orange but anyway Cheesy

Looks at little confusing to me but I rushed through the read me, i'd give it ago and make a tutorial no problems at all if I just could find one of the drives needed.  I was just about to add a window and lights to the HD anyway so I may as well copy whatever I need while it's still closed.

2279  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 "Modding" / Re: Help with fan mod on: February 01, 2007, 07:14:16 AM
It is possible to lower 1 (or both) speed/s of the fan/s by connecting them to alternative power sources (i'll be releasing soon a picture of all the different power sources like 3v, 5v etc) on the motherboard.  You could connect the fan to (for example here) a 12v source but in between have a resistor to lower the voltage but why not just connect to the point which already has the voltage you want? (there are lots)

The usual question like, are you using good quality disks etc...try cleaning the laser and or also your OWN PERSONAL CHOICE (which I find helps - and NO ONE is to give me $#!t about) tweaking the pot at small increments at a time (100ohm at a time till you get the results you want)...yeah it's probably my solution to all "those" types of errors apart from getting a new DVD drive OFF TOPIC : sorry but I just got an idea don't' want to make another thread...do you think I  should use primer on the top of my case (custom building one almost finished spraying it - l00ks better than a Black Night case no $hite)...i'm using enamel paint (spray)...sorry for the question..
