Had same problem with a 360 drive...and an Xbox 1 drive...did exactly what you did, and same problem - I think it came down to a chip or a capacitor :/

Try the cross wire method with 1k resistor, look for my tutorial called Getting A Hitachi (pre 78) Into mode B Wink (somewhere here, just search some words) - otherwise there isn't any other methods you can use to put it into mode B....

Confirmed, 360 sent to M$ came back with new sticker, new mobo, new heatsink and new BenQ drive - old hairdryer trick works on it (well I use a heatgun at just the right temperature)...I like these stickers better, not having to worry about shrinkage or accidentally melting them if you get distracted and there easier to get off Cheesy !! - Australia

Just thought i'd let you all know, got a 360 that came back from MS repair center - new mobo, new heatsink, new warranty sticker and the new BenQ drive (this one looks $#!tty, the tray is very wobbly)...it also has a sticker on the side of it (where the two halves meet) saying "warranty void if damaged" it's a little white sticker and has a picture of a bin on it as well : p nothing to do with MS - i'm in Australia

tip: don't get that XCM cooling fan, it does jack sh*t - take a look at my case mods/case and see what I have done with cooling mods (it's in the modding section), if you want to keep XBL and play back-ed up games at the same time for you i'd recommend dual boot (origional fw on 1 chip for XBL and hacked fw on the other chip for backed up games)

I can do a bad flash on a flashed drive (multiple times flashed with different firmwares...upgrading from one to another etc) fine with my VIA 6421 PCI SAT card fine....no 0800 disk needed !!

Get the key from the drive, get some key less firmware (TMF's site) and inject the key into it using fw toolbox Wink

Test have been ran, the new heat pipe is confirmed to lower the temperature....and guess how much by???   .2 degres ....that's right it does nothing. I spoke to someone and he said someone in Mexico did the tests and he showed me a web page but I don't have the link (it was professionally done), I will post it here once i get it form here again.

Mod chips are crap, use a firmware flash...things liek the blaster 360 etc just aid in making future firmware flashing easier...using teh latest firmware in theory should prevent you from getting banned on xbox LIVE

With flashed drives i've noticed some times you need to try more times trying to read/flash it so try for a good while

1913  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: 360 Elite - Can it be modded? on: August 31, 2007, 01:46:11 AM
It depends what drive you have, if you have a 78,79 (Hitachi) then yes it can be modded - if you have a BenQ...there is no modded fw for it yet BUT there is the ability to dump the fw and get the key for it and use another drive (and mod that drive)...

The south bridge is the square chip with NO heatsink on it next to the DVD power/sata connectors, it has an Xbox 360 logo on it...what DVD drive do you have ?? (pc as in windows...mtkflash??)...

For Reference: Q1G3 is used to measure the mobo temperature.

speedy22 You wouldn't happen to know where the points where for measuring the cpu or gpu temp (and how you could go about measuring them??) assuming there not monitored by some other chip

1915  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: What if i buy a new Hitachi-Lg drive on: August 31, 2007, 01:36:04 AM
Yeap you need to transfer the key from the firmware you got into the new drive, you can check the key etc with a program called Firmware Toolbox...once you have installed the program open it up, and open up the 256kb file you have Wink

Well depending on how bad the damaged it really is, it's more than possible it will be detected and you can get the key from it

1918  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 "Modding" / Re: So...what do you think :) ? on: August 28, 2007, 07:52:48 PM
Yeap the chip that makes the light pulse etc is called XERC CME SE 2 and is from http://sickmods.net/ , it works by toggling the ground to the leds - you have to solder some wires around the AV connector on the back of the motherboard.  Easy to install but the tricky part with a windowed case is hiding all the wiring...  Sorry i'm not next to ontario mate, I live in Australia Wink Glad you like it !

Most likely you will be bale to get the key still, which is what you need to put a new drive into your 360...but to do that now unless it's detected in windows it's going to be hard.  If it's not detcted in windows you will need to de-solder the flash and read it in an external programmer (or get someone to do it Wink )
