Well glaze I can agree with you there...I tried "your" method a bunch of times even before you mentioned it and it just didn't work, and i've done sammy's many many times and have no trouble ever - technically code 70 is displayed STRAIGHT on power on not 10 seconds after (you do not need to wait 10 seconds, just power off then straight back on).... meanwhile I am assuming this is all to do with a VIA card (which is what i'm using here) which could make a difference - TMF did try this also and he couldn't get it to dump

proof eyy...well i'll get ya some proof (I have to dig up the pages) but it's been properly done by 2 people not just pointing an IR gun at it like you said...as for the "better finish on the bottom" I don't know where your looking, but ALL the new heat sinks I have seen have had the exact same bottom as before (it's not polished or anything...do you mean it's made out of different metal?) - heres the thing when you say M$ researched stuff...if they were so good at researching stuff, then how come we have so many RR boxes?! gigabite - aka giggles, because I know this thread will probably get locked now and robinsod will say shut up giggles

glaze I don't think your method will work correctly mate (if it does it shouldn't and your just lucky) because to be able to correctly dump the flash, it needs to be put into recovery mode: how do you do this?? By cutting the power supply to it (the flash) so it goes into recovery mode, then to dump the flash it needs power so you flick the switch the other way and it gets power and you are able to dump the drive...
gigabite
*I should also note that it won't go into recovery mode without the power cut, which is what you need for the flash to be recognized to dump it - it's not like the Sammy's where they have a very short period where they are in "recover mode" state (so it can display code 70 to mr mtkflash)

Alright guys, getting a new 360 tomorrow - so it will obviously come with 2858.....what I am wondering is:
* would it be better for me to buy an infectus
OR
* would it be better to go the Linux route ??
any opinions/suggestions would be appreciated (also this box will NOT be going on LIVE ever)

your gamer profile is missing . then i checked my memory in profiles section , i found that profile there but it was corrupted. strange things with those microsoft fixed benQ consoles. Huh Ahhhh strange, EXACT same thing happened to me (lucky it was my brothers profile and he didn't have much on it - I don't think this has anything to do with it but he was playing Halo 3 [*CC etc* release]) WEIRD !!! Maybe I think that because these consoles already come with the 5759 update installed (as in a "special" update M$ tinkered with??) this is the cause ? On a side note...the BenQ drives IMHO are really, really $#!tty - trays f*ing up (first one I saw)...game disks being scratched (not that I have ever ever had that problem personally) anywho, if anyone has an infectus, or has a box that they can spend time with have a good look see into it gigabite

^^ Get a drive from eBay from gameconsolehk (whatever there name is) - buy the ms25 - what you will then have to do is download my package from #xbins on IRC on efnet - open one of the already hacked and correctly spoofed firmwares in firmware toolbox (you choose which hacked firmware you want to use), and paste your key into it and push replace key - now flash that firmware file to your ms25.....you won't find a drive that's already flashed because for the drive to work it needs to have your key and be correctly spoofed Oh and BTW the epoxy is normal gigabite

quote from you "Being a end user, I don't care about that."
quote from someone such as robinsod, or tmbinc or TS...or any other hacker "Being the creator, we face legal action" etc etc...u get my point...plus it's not as simple as you think, hypervisour, kernal verisons, CPU keys, eFUSES, 1BL

do i just need to replace the keys rite? "etc etc" wat else? LOL You need a copy of your orig.bin, and you need to put that into the directory where you have extracted iXtreme ....then use the make commands to do the rest why dont i just use XBM to format n bootable to the A: drivE? Because it gives you a bunch of crap on the disk that's not necessary gigabite
