ok there are two types of IC's wich control the network...you might have on or the other...confusing? it will either be the big one or a smaller one...located in the exact same position (this pic has the small type): as for the fuse I heard about (i'll do a search for it later) it was supposedly inside the ethernet "block" of metal - wich you can unclip gigabite

0002 is either the IC wich controls it...or, inside I was told there is some kind of fuse like thing - if it's burnt it won't work so you'll need to replace it - i'd try replacing the IC on the motherboard first

that's right...and heres a point I will make - because what if you played for a really long time and the box got super hot...and the fans raised them self to 12v (as they are supposed to do...well increase v's as the cpu + gpu etc get hotter)...you get banned for having a hot xbox...my my..

can be on the GPU also...take a pic and show us (why would you put silicon on it...well Arakon it's the ONLY thing that fully holds them in place when you put it all back together...it dosen't melt, in fact over a period of time it actually compacts and I dunno what happens but less is on there (long periods...3-4 months) but you won't have to re-apply it ever again...just one layer will do - if you can find a non conductive, heat resistant substance that won't shrink dramatically...use it) - this is a pic I took of bad smd caps...this is the one on the CPU that commonly goes bad: and here is bad ones on the GPU (this owner tried to repair it after I suspected it as the cause - lesson be learned...don't try it if your not advanced enough - link ( http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u69/bLuEb0x/Electronics/?action=view¤t=IMG_0002.jpg) gigabite
