nonono you see...an open tray "error" can be caused by the laser not picking up the disk...generally meaning it's dirty or dying, so if you clean it and tweak the pot (reduce the ammount of resistance to the lasers voltage so it's "more powerful") it will pick up the disk and the open tray will go away gigabite

Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Home made PC adapter

Hi guys, I want to make an "adapter" wich powers the 360 drive just to be able to dump/re-flash the firmware - now I did my re-search and I know that 12v goes to pins 1 and 3 (on the DVD drive) and 5v goes to pin 5 (on the DVD drive) and GND goes to 0,2,4 & 6 (on the DVD drive) - I don't need 3.3v because I don't need to eject or spin the tray etc...all I need to do is dump/re-flash the firmware - now the thing is it will only be used on Samsung's so it will need a "vcc switch" so to speak - what I want to know is that to make a "vcc switch" would it be ok if I just cut power to 12v or do I need to just cut power to 5v (because the SST chip uses 5v) or do I need to cut power to both 5v and 12v..or GND.. / if someone could help i'd appreciate it,
thanks gigabite

yes i'd say check all the cables inside the drive, make sure there in securely (be very careful), then if you still get open tray you could try tweaking the pot and cleaning the laser but...in the end you will have to buy a new laser

mind you I havn't played GOW...but it's normal to hear everyone on a mic throughout gameplay...if your in teams (i.e for example like counterstrike) then you can only hear everyone on YOUR team - there is no mod or anything, also check the settings etc (physically the device, and also the consoles settings) as no_name said

yes but the Hitachi 78 TSOP with the 78 firmware will only work on 78 or 79 PCB's...the TSOP will physically work on any Hitachi drive but you will need to re-program it with the appropriate firmware for the PCB - you could technically put the Hitachi TSOP in a Sammy...I have some diagrams wich might help but your going to need to wire a wire to almost every leg and wire that to the board...not to mention the fact that the firmware on the chip would defienntly need to be replaced with Samsung firmware

haha, the funny part is where they said back-up your save games...either you buy another M$ product (the memory card) and copy your stuff (even then some save games can't be copied)...or you could buy something like the minispy (all that comes to mind) and back up your whole HDD without worrying about what and what cannot be backed up...it's sad, but there isn't anything that can be done

ok well you can try the 2 wire trick with 1k resistor...plus the slower speed won't make it reads disks any better - use better disks and burn slow (depending on wich version you flashed they also MUST be stealth otherwise you will get open tray also !) - if you are and all is good, then the laser is dirty or going bad...clean the laser, tweak the pot or buy a new laser are your options

wii key and a gamecube....hmm I reckon you could do it, but just watch out for the epoxy (another way of doing it instead of using a heatgun if your afraid, use paint stripper with methy something or bezel something (there in common paint stripper).....only apply to the epoxy and wait about 1-2 hours - just don't be a wise guy and get the "environmentally safe" pain stripper like someones mum did ...cause it don't work without the methy'ne stuff XD ) gigabite
