in my experience all the quick solder, snap in whatever....they just cause more trouble - I just use wires on a 1.6 (boo executer chips....rip off, get a Duo X2 ) gigabite

Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / How much "room" does the console have for patchs
|
on: March 27, 2008, 11:48:21 PM
|
|
Hi guys, i'm just doing a bit of thinking - i'm just wondering how much room the console has for patches...[we know the console boots xxx then it applys the patches (updates downloaded from XBL as the "full" dash isn't downloaded...16 mb) to xxx and ends the "boot" process with all the patches applied to the base kernel etc etc (xxx).] SO basically in the end how much space does the console have for these patches, and how much space does each "patch" use up ? Once all the space is used up...could the original patches be erased to put in a newer patch (like downgrading....eg robinsod zeroing certain parts and downgrading) WHILE still having blown efuses...make sense ?
thanks gigabite

get a 'Kreon drive' (eBay) and rip it...burn it and it's done - or theres a couple of tutorials where you can do it the "cheapo" way (like pull the top of your PC DVD drive and use some programs and stuff), the Kreon drive is the easiest way though (unless you have the ability to hook your 360 drive up to your computer)

Well I basically read over the XS thread - let me just say 2 things...if you are already running hacked firmware when you install the pass key it will detect it and it will not blink or put you into mode B (you have to do this the "old" way of opening the tray then pulling out the plug...then plugging it back in and turning it on with it all hooked up)...second...the flashing on and off every 2 seconds means it's in mode B BUT....(and i've done a fair amount of passkey installs) if your getting cannot read from drive then your install is bad..also I use a DVD movie and very short wires with my pass key installs (and i've never touched the jumpers and i've got the latest passkey..and i don't leave them in personally)

first D:\ partition is the DVD drive haha - second, yes you can fix this (don't know about getting teh F"\ partition back but you can re-make it)....download Slayers EvoX Auto Installer (g00gle...it's easy form there trust me)...burn (back up your game saves if you want) re-format everything and install what you want..but just make sure your using a mod chip of your TSOP's flashed and your not using a softmod

Arakon I beg to differ...I have dumped many D.E.A.D firmware chips both from Hitachi and Samsung, it defies logic but a dead one can actually be dumped, anywho to answer your question the vcc method disconnects the vcc from the chip (power) so that when you flick the switch to give it power (connect the wires..whatever) just at the right exact point of time the drive displays code 70 and mtkflash goes yeap ok I can flash you (commonly used when people don't have a working SATA chipset...like a VIA)

ahh read the sig...theres technicals behind it on this board, the answer is no once you flash your drive your logged and will be banned from XBL if not then at a later date regardless of what firmware you use, it doesn't even matter how you make your disks

ahhhhhh yes the board does bend if you go to far on tightening...but who goes that far...honestly it's insane !! I ALWAYS have ALL screws on my personal 360's (2...all modded without the x-clamp mod...12v fans etc) and I have no RRoD issues at all - and when I mean tight I mean absolutely tight as, my first 360 I have had for almost a year and my second I have only had for about 4 months maybe more though I hardly play and they have always been properly cooled since the begging of there life and treated like gods (always warmed up not moved all of the rest) anyway I think whatever you like do it gigabite

big cross on that.... first, they have not changed the solder...it is still lead free and RoHS compliant - I highly doubt they would have changed the mixture but it's possible second, the gluing DOES NOT help/prevent the CPU/GPU from lifting off the board (if it did, why am I repairing boards with 3RL and glue? - yes I understand 3RL can be multiple "things" but i'll touch on this in a sec) third, the "new" GPU heatsink does absolutely nothing - it actually cuts a whooping .2 degrees off the temp that's amazing !!...that's right not even a degree - and theres have been 2 accurate separate test by different people to agree fourth, the cpu and gpu (depending on your board) are 65nm...not 60 - though you are right in that they do consume less power and produce less heat - though not enough to prevent 3RL WITH glue as there was a vid of a (iirc) Elite box with 3RL on maxconsole fith, there are too many design flaws for the 3RL issue to go away or be reduced like M$ hope gigabite
