1101  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Microsoft Xbox 360 Ping 17 Test Disc on: April 18, 2008, 07:10:26 AM
not trying to break the rules here (and i'm being careful of what I am posting)...but

...

"Ping 17 Test Media" is a confidential internal Microsoft utility
disc which was left inside an Xbox 360 when it was sent back to a
customer after RRoD repair.

Please note that this disc will not run on iXtreme firmware as-is.
It's an exception to the SS authoring date rule and has 2nd wave
PFI/Video when iXtreme expects it to have the 1st wave versions.
This is the same reason why backups of DDR Universe (the only
other known exception to the rule) will not run on iXtreme.

If you want this disc to run on iXtreme you will need to patch the
iso with PFI_739CEAB3.bin and Video_66D0CB54.iso from the included
ind-ping-1st_wave.rar, but note that this is not the proper
PFI/Video for this disc and you should use it at your own risk.

Also, be aware that this disc will attempt an internet connection
to LIVE/MS, and will halt if it can't connect. Use at own risk!

Picture of the disk (uploaded to my photo bucket account and I have a copy so it can't go "down")

then from XS...

its runs 1 level of PGR race all NSX cars going very fast, infact it makes the system lag seems to push it beyond its capabilites.

most of the time the test hangs the machine ive tried it on 3 seperate systems the only one it did 4 laps on was a system connected to a lan cable must be doing some sort of network test.

and

lol... i just started working for microsoft about a month ago.....that's one of our media/network test discs... used for media test after media repair, also used for network checks... also after repair...

and yes it will run your systen to the further most of it's capabilities... long story short the disk is designed to run a media and network test while making the consol run extra fast in order to properly simulate the constant and consistant use of the xbox 360...

they were testing if your media and network connects would work under the conditions and heat of an xbox 360 that was being used for about 4-6 hours straight...

just to make sure it wouldn't crap out on you again after a few hours of play time... makes sense...

so it goes with what I was thinking..."....Ping...test media...." network checks, and media test (though if the same drive were in use...and it was still running hacked firmware...iXtreme (doesn't apply to Xtreme  because of not needing vid partitions ?) and this disk didn't run they could know you had hacked firmware and that your console has been modded)

trying not to break the rules...

^^ completely wrong...if you had a Hitachi you'd be correct, but you don't////  There are millions of flashing tutorials out there but use mtkflash and use Xtreme Boot Maker (36 version) to make a custom hex edited mtkflash for you (tick both boxes) - once you get it all done use the command mtkflash r orig.bin

then

use firmware toolbox to read the key and make sure it's all ok, make a hacked firmware and spoof it in fw toolbox (as a 78) not when making hacked firmware....then use the command mtkflash w whateveryoursis.bin

I left certain parts out deliberately, there easy to pick up and understand but now you must read before you continue

1103  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: Easy modeb for Hitachi 79 with iXtreme on: April 17, 2008, 06:51:14 PM
yeah UNLESS...you flash it with 78 firmware Smiley...then - you can get it into mode B with Slax then hack it like it were a 78, and 78 code works on a 79 and vice versa

1104  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Extracting the FW from a dead Hitachi 78FK on: April 17, 2008, 06:47:18 PM
Yeap it's possible...though like you said without being able to run a disk you won't be able to dump it the normal way - the only way you can do it is to dump it with an external programmer...unless you have one send it to someone (PM if interested) because they are really expensive and you have to de-solder the TSOP also OR you could buy the exact same drive (or any other Hitachi) and just swap the boards

You can obtain the dumping tools from #xbins on IRC - it might be possible to detect that the DVD key is different but then again...no one knows 100%....as of now it probably isn't checked because it's not needed

i'm not sure if you can use the tools for dumping from a memory stick - and i don't know if you can add them to the DVD but i'd just run them from your PC as usual anyway...less hassle and there are already tutorials out there how to do it (if your getting errors about dumping the NAND and the 1BL etc...read my posts....it's to do with XP needing something enabled...I forget what it is but the easiest way to do it is to make a shared internet connection)

Yes BenQ iXtreme 1.41 is currently the best to use now - game updates whether dashboard or online will not affect your firmware flash

answer (IMHO) is caching ... got a mem card it'll be choppy or very slow (brother running iXtreme non stealth which runs at 8x...[btw any to chnage the fact that iXtreme non-stealth ruins at 8x?]....uses a mem card and the amount of times he waits and gets skipping on a brand new falcon on test drive unlimited is stupid) if you got a HDD then it should run nicer, though, could be your laser as Arakon said

yeah I have really been thinking of importing some of the plastic washers because I just cannot get ANY here (it's ridiculous) closest I can get is the fiber ones which I heard are bad because with compression they loose there height...so...everyones voting (from reading) 3 metal washers and 1 plastic washer on the bottom underneath the motherboard and then 1 plastic washer on top of the motherboard for the perfect spacing ?? (oh and sizes..1mm for metal and same for plastic or what?) and if anyone wants to help with getting me some plastic washers PM me please

thanks

OK...so basically - the thread isn't if you use a heatgun...12v the fans..whatever...just what washers you use and your placement of them for minimal board warping.  For me...the board does look like it's been "sucked in" to the middle (and you can notice the bend at the back around the ana/middle screw hole) - no matter how many screws I add either side (underneath or on top) I still get a bend...I want a very slight bend...but not to much (though it still works)

I use 3 metal washers each screw underneath the mobo...

then you have broken the laser -if your using verbs-...if your getting to play this disk.... then this confirms your laser is bad (but if you flashed it without any key or key in wrong location...and you don't have a back-up of your firmware, then your screwed) / make sure your disks are stealth if your using an iXtreme firmware OR flash with Xtreme because that will also have unplayable disk if the game isn't stealth

fine...i'll explain it all - in the NAND there is a file called SECDATA.BIN available to be decrypted with the use of robinsods latest NAND tool (don't ask me how to decipher it from there)...in this file, is a log of "dogy things" (bad dmi...wrong spoof etc etc) - from here it is "thought" that when you connect to LIVE this log goes to M$, they check it (or compare...whatever) and it goes what's this...(for example) bad spoof...that must mean a modded console...BANNED !  so to conclude...file logs you locally (was first introduced in kernal 4532), when you connect to LIVE it sends it...checking....BANNED !   happy ?  (oh and yes the idea popped into my brain long ago about downgrading to BK 1888...updating till whatever kernal and having a fresh one)...happy ? don't ask the question with the obvious answer..."will I get banned for having a modded console"....

if you bought a new drive...why in gods name would you tweak the laser - the problem is obvious, your media is $#!t (or you killed the laser)
