there around $100AU...just make sure you get the same model of laser and make sure you have a soldering iron to de-solder the anti-static solder blob otherwise your not getting anywhere

look, you can splice wires...but it will get messy - 25w soldering iron, some 60/40 solder and lets say 2 hours practice and you should be fine  Tongue

I hate flashing DuoX2's there's always a problem...always...it doesn't matter which bank you use, if you want to have one bank with Cromwell and one with hacked fw then switch banks prior to flashing but before loading (e.g load Cromwell, then switch banks...yes it's ok to do this it will not damage anything).

1.6 will "see" both banks...

my advice is:

Flash your chip with a BIOS (I suggest Xecuter 4981)

Run Slayers

Unlock HDD

Format HDD

Install EvoX as a test (on C:\)

post back...

are charging £60 stating they re-ball it etc is it worth it or should i just got and buy a new console for £99 lol

buy a new box...re-balling is a waste of money however a proper BGA re-flow (with machines) is a balance on cost and worthiness

Quote
it doesnt take a genious to work out its overheating when processing load is applyed to the chip

no, actually in your case you have fractured solder joints (common problem)...the "leave the fans off/baking" trick does absolutely nothing (it just flex's the board which is why it may work for a very short while) while using an x-clamp mod in conjunction just crushes the BGA...which is why a proper BGA re-flow is needed

just wondering if someone would be so kind as to point out the best areas to draw power from on the basis of using a 3pin or 4 pin 12v fan...

in any 3 or 4 pin fan, e.g 3...1 wire is positive (usually red), 1 wire is negative (usually black) and the other wire is for the RPM sensor (yellow) so you can cut yellow away. Take a look at my voltage map:

hope that helps

hang on, hang on...error 13 is basically a dash error (i.e the console cannot access the dash because the HDD you put in is originally locked to the console you grabbed it from). To fix this, boot up Slayers and unlock the HDD first (from the box it came from), THEN proceed to use it in your box Wink

on a side note, do you see the normal "M$" logo when you put the chip in (this would indicate bad soldering) or do you see the modded  - e.g EvoX logo - (this would indicate your soldering is good) ?

Number 1...the picture is not good enough to be able to judge if traces are damaged

Number 2...you forgot to join 2 points (look here: http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/2932/pointsh.jpg)

your re-built LPC should look like this: http://hackdabox.eternalnoob.net/lpc2.jpg when done

solder those 2 points and give it a go...hopefully you haven't damaged a trace

each HDD has it's own unique ID, you will have to re-sign the content with the new HDD's unique ID - I did it a while ago....iirc I used a program called modio (just load whatever you want, it will tell you the ID then you copy and paste and wala)

considering you couldn't even build the dead easy TA level shifter - read up on your older posts

Your referring to the thing I made...yes f***wit, the thing I MADE (yes put together not "thought of" or anything...i'm not trying to steal anyone's "credit" be it that)...which did not work and was NOT a problem to do with my work (Arakon did this, he did a mistake which cost him an xbox). I sat there with robinsod [and Geremia chimed in to may I add] and the problem was not at all with my work...the problem was unknown and could not be figured out (I was getting a perfect signal but I was getting 0...I could go on but no point)

but you can't even write simple microcode that does pwm

did you not read where I said I would rather not program a PIC...not because I "didn't know" any code...because I didn't want to have to program the PIC full stop

You're welcome.  You actually bought the parts in a brick and mortar store?

Noooo he he...I bought them at an actual electronics store (the best we have), it's a place called JayCar (http://www.jaycar.com.au/) they have alot of stuff...there "an electronics store" none of this PC's, TV's, Phones stuff.  I've been wanting to fade led's forever so thanks again !!!

Also, what PIC did you use there ?? Interested for future projects since my Williem can program a small number of PIC's...

used a 33uF capacitor instead as I could not get a 30uF capacitor (but the delay is perfect, exactly how I want it)

thank you for your help neonpolaris ... probably would have used your circuit but I already bought the parts today Smiley !!!!

and uberfry, if you want to challenge me to building your circuit go ahead but you can PayPal me the money for the materials as i'm not wasting my own...

AHA !

Found this today after spending another good few hours searching:

http://metku.net/hwforum/viewtopic.php?f=24&p=50555

In the circuit above, basically says that the LED connected to the PNP transistor will do the opposite of the ones connected to the NPN transistor.....this is the same circuit for 1 led only :

so essentially, all I have to do is add the appropriate resistor, connect that to - of the led and then connect the + to the NPN transistor and wala 2 fading led's and so on

Now the next question is, using the above circuit with the LM324 how many LED's can I attach to it (what would be the max amount) ? On the 1st circuit he mentions 30...what would be the limit of the IC or would it come down to the limit from the power supply (in which case no limit) ??

I found out that the number of led's you can use is defined by what the transistor can handle (in mA)...what NPN transistor can I use that will support up to 500mA (i'd like to have a little extra just so it doesn't heat up or shorten the life) ??

Will a BC337 NPN Transistor (supports 800mA) be ok to use in this circuit ? I can't see why it wouldn't be ok...

If someone could answer that, that would be excellent !!! Cheesy

thanks again !!  Grin

Hi, sorry I would like the LED's to always be fading in and out (like the fader 360 "breathing" effect and yes I have looked at the schematics, but I don't want to have to program an IC tbh).....the pattern I want is : fade in, slowly fade out, fade in, slowly fade out and loop that forever.

All the LED's should fade in [then out] at the same time, generally 10-20 LED's will be used in any 1 circuit (but I would like the ability to easily add more or less without the circuit being changed at all or to much). It will be something that has it's own power supply (based on how many LED's I use)

thanks, sorry if I was unclear  Smiley

Sorry...I meant in the circuit/s most of the time, the LED's I use will be 3.3v @ 20mA

It would be better if it was controlled automatically but I don't mind using a pot also

thanks  Smiley

Just wanting to know (your opinion's) on how to make simple LED fader's...i've been reading for 8 hours + and looking into circuits.

To be honest i'd really prefer to use an IC that I don't have to program, i'd also like to be able to easily add more or less LED's without changing the circuit (preferably at all or to much).

I've seen a few circuits using quad comparator's....would this be the best way to go ?? I would like to be able to easily build the circuit using easy to get components since I don't have access to many "fancy" parts (unless I order them online). Led's that will be being faded [99% of the time] will be 3.3v @ 20mA

Any help, opinions or links etc would be greatly appreciated

thanks

either you don't believe us, not listening or your just stupid and wasting your time....your console is useless period, all you can do is play DVD movies and audio CD's

regardless, the easiest place to get a DVD drive from (and the cheapest) is eBay
