Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / XBOX 360 250GB hard drive

For those that didn't know, there is a new, limited edition xbox that comes with a 250GB hard drive that is not sold separately. The limited edition is a Modern Warfare 2 fancy coloured xbox (little bit gay if you ask me, cant see how colours make an xbox more desirable but hey...)
So, May be there is hope for a homebrew 250gb hard drive like there is for the 120gb.

you're a touchy bunch of people in here arnt you.
ive already said i cannot use my controller. it's not here. i'm miffed as to why you cannot just accept that as fact. yes my idea is ruined, i think i just need some more people to post in this topic to explain that i cannot use the IR remote in the game. so people please post and tell me that i cannot use my IR remote in the game.
i thought i could run whatever i wanted on the linux 360? im not even sure why it needs an explanation to you, but for your interest i was trialing out the software, and decided to make use of a now redundant xbox 360. using a built desktop PC or a blade server is not an easier approach. if anything, the xbox has been easier since ubuntu had already been installed. all that was needed was to install apache, mysql, php and most of that gets done with sudo apt-get install cacti.
i can add though, that as a php / mysql / webserver it does very well.

where is the start button? there isnt one on the IR remote.
and if you are trying to be clever and mean on my controller, then i will say that this xbox is here with me at work running cacti monitoring software plus other things in our air conditioned comms room.
my personal xbox is at home, complete with controller and headset.
i mean, this might be the time to try the frequency modulation thing that people are going on about with car alarms and mobile phones. but i dont think that would work at all so im not going to waste my time!

hi all, i have a 360 remote which i thought i could keep with my xbox that runs linux so i could press start / play on the king kong screen to go into linux mode...
my remote doesnt seem to let me press start at the vital bit.
im just wondering if anyone is using a remote and which one they have? i admit i bought mine cheap from hong kong over the internet, but im wondering if there is no "start" function on any remote or just mine?
thanks!

Research & Technical XboxHacking (Xbox 360) / Hard Disk / Re: XBOX360 Memory card UP TO 32GB IS IT Possible ??

i think its worth a try, but i also doubt it will work, but i mean, if the pins match up, and its usb standards then it theoretically should work and be detected by the 360.. but its down to the programming of the 360 if it would let you use it as storage for game data.
i have a question. are the memory card slots just USB slots? if so, then if you desolder the memory card chip, and install it onto a usb key, then plug this in the xbox usb port, i have a feeling this may let you use the usb slot to store game data on the original memory chip.
just a feeling.

just remember that AS5 allows electricity to traverse. this means there is a possibility of short circuits of you drop some where it isnt supposed to go. this is why gigabyte suggested ceramique as its not conductive and almost as good as AS5. i used AS5 on one of my xbox 360's, and i somehow got a little bit of excess just off the cpu chip. it shorted something next to the cpu, and wouldnt let my 360 start. took me 4 or 5 goes at cleaning it off before the box would boot - just when you think its all gone, there is a minute amount that you cant see :/

the 4532 version.. i read the original post that it works with both 4xxx versions ? in case you are thinking that i dont have a vulnerable kernel at all, i do. ubuntu is installed on the hard disk already and loads fine with the seperate sda2 boot disk. if i follow the instructions above, there is only a few steps. patch the dvd iso with the kk patcher ( i copied and pasted the command from the first post into my command prompt window) i get a "done" or "complete" message next is to open the kingkong iso with winhex, and also open the sda2 cd image with winhex as well, copy the contents of the sda2 cd (about 7 or 8 mb) and paste this at point 0 of the dvd. then burn the .dvd image so kingkong loads, but i still have to press start, then i see the power light flash like it has tried to eject the cd, then the disk spins up some more and does nothing else.
