Good job so far and good luck.

Ok children....

According to this:
http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/tutorial/Xbox_360-HandC-V1_4.pdf

The fan voltage should start at +5.4v and climb to +11.8v within 30 seconds of powering on.
763  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: 12v Fans on: February 26, 2009, 03:25:36 PM
And the fans still test good?  Anyone want to measure what the expected voltage for the fans should be before anything gets hot?

If your fan circuit isn't putting out enough power to run the fans (that are working properly), I'm not sure how easy that would be to troubleshoot.  But if there hasn't been any load, I wonder how it could have damaged itself on it's own while you weren't using it.

You may just have to go back to the 12v.  A loud xbox is better than a hot xbox.

Are your backups confirmed good?  How did you back them up?  What kind of discs did you burn them on?
765  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 "Modding" / Re: diy internal hdd 120gb on: February 26, 2009, 01:48:56 PM
I'm not worried about where to ground, so much as the rest of the pinout.  Just one good pic will save me the trouble.

Has anyone had any problems with this mod?  The OP mentioned about the heat shield compressing the drive too much, is there anything else of concern?  Heat?  Running SATA over what appears to be an IDE or Floppy cable?
766  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: 12v Fans on: February 26, 2009, 01:40:23 PM
Since there is no rpm sensor wire on the fans (the easy way to check), then it would be very difficult to try and test for such a mod without a large degree of false positives.  But really, what reason would they have to ban for this?

Also, check my signature for more information.
767  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: 12v Fans on: February 26, 2009, 09:50:36 AM
So could it be that the 2-3v just means that it's not hot yet, and that's as high as the xbox wants to spin the fans?

The guide on llamma's site looks really useful, but the full size pictures aren't there anymore.  I was thinking about doing this, since my HD likes to vibrate just far enough loose sometimes and freeze my games.

You should elaborate on what tools you are using and where you're having a problem.

There's a "NOOB Guide to flashing Liteon" that walks you through it.

Does the 2-3v spin the fans?

Sorry I'm not real familiar with the fan operation, perhaps someone can help me here.  Are they normally temperature controlled, or do they run at one speed all the time?

Yes, I agree.

Those checks are there for a reason.

You just reconnected the brown and red wires back to where they were, right?

You hadn't desoldered the socket or anything had you?

How did you connect the wires back?
  • Solder and heatshrink?
  • Butt splice connectors?
  • Twist and electrical tape?
775  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: 12v Fans on: February 25, 2009, 01:06:30 PM
Any more information would be appreciated.

You did the 12v mod, and now you want to undo it?
Just do the steps you did before, in reverse.

You're saying that they don't work... the fans don't work at all, or they don't work after you un-did the mod?

XBox Media Center does not run on the XBox 360.
777  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: DIY Probe for Lite-On on: February 25, 2009, 08:55:35 AM
Resistors are non-polar, you can put them whatever direction you want.

I'm wondering if the alligator clip circuit is not going to cause any problems.  Not good enough connections, or the transistor's clips touching/shorting when it moves.

I personally can't speak for your chipset one way or the other.  Does it support a legacy mode?  That is, do the devices appear as SATA or PATA?

Also, you can always use the DOS utilities if JF doesn't work for you.
778  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: quick question on: February 25, 2009, 08:07:06 AM
Yeah, I guess I was unclear there.  It will stay flashed, unless you flash it back.  It's not temporary, as in revert back after some time or power loss or something.
779  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: wxRipper on: February 24, 2009, 09:22:57 PM
the Kreon firmware comes with instructions, I think.

and before you ask your next question... xbins
780  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Wrong Region on: February 24, 2009, 09:21:46 PM
You cannot change the region of your console.  You cannot change a game to be region-free.

You need games that are already region-free or compatible with your console's region.

How about not downloading pirated crap from other regions?
