General / XboxHacker Site Discussion / Search function

I've noticed a ... quirk ... about the search feature on each page. If you're reading a thread or browsing a section, and you use the search up in the top right, it will only search that thread or section, respectively. Obviously this is by design, but usually a search that works like this is lower on the page, perhaps below the title of the thread or section. It may even say something like "Search this thread" or "Search this section" Search bars that are above everything and that don't specify anything make *me* think I'm searching the whole site. I always make a point to go back to the home page of this site before I search for a thread that I don't know the section of. I wonder if this is causing newer members difficulty in finding information.
I know that you can use the search link to get to an advanced search and specify the who, what, where's. But the general search here is seemingly against the standard, or at least what *I've* come to expect for some reason or another.
I'm looking for opinions on this, not a big hate thread about how noobs don't search anyway or that only retarded monkeys couldn't figure it out. If your car had it's gas and brake pedals reversed, you could probably figure it out quickly, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't prefer it was standard.

Ok, perhaps choking down the other was a dumb thing to ask, but if the other one is restricted too much then cranking up the flow on the station won't help. I won't really be able to tell that until I get back at the house and test, I was just curious if others' looked this way.
I don't follow what you mean by the tweezers on the chip. I have much more research to do yet, but I was under the impression that I didn't want to touch the cpu/gpu at all while this was going on.

General / General Discussion (non-Xbox) / Hot air nozzle ok?
|

Some time ago I purchased an Aoyue 852A++ to do some reflow/smd work. I recently stumbled across information about reflowing the 360 CPU and GPU and was surprised to find some people are using almost the same station that I already have! I found a bud of mine that has a no-warranty red-ringed box that he's willing to donate to my experiment, so I figured I'd give it a go, nothing to lose. I haven't received box yet, will have to check error codes first for applicability. I ordered the Y3939 and Y4141 nozzles which just came in today, but the 3939 seems to allow alot more airflow through than the 4141. Is this normal? Or is one or the other incorrect? Should I leave them be as they are, drill out the 4141 or choke down the 3939?

You can also use ISO2GOD to make a game on demand container so you can launch from NXE instead of XEXLoader
This is true, and GOD packages are preferred for me, but the OP was asking about storing on an external USB drive. GOD's can't be launched from USB drives at this time.

Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: Disabling Live In Freeboot/Xbreboot

Getting back to the main point, I don't think it would do much good to patch XBR to disable Live usage. It would only prevent it for a little while after each update at best.
Why would it only prevent Live access for a little time?, are you afraid people will hack it out of the patchset? That's exactly my thinking. People who are smart enough to patch it out of the patchset should be bright enough to understand that they will be banned quickly after connecting to Live.
They're going to be banned quickly already, that won't be any more of a deterent then than it is now. One person will patch it, release it, then every little glitcher will find it via google. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to protest it or anything. If the developers have the time, sure. But I would consider it a low priority item.

Is it simply a cable adapter? HDMI and VGA are very different. You'd need more of a convertor box to convert the signals from one to the other. These are not cheap. You may find a cheap adapter for a laptop or similar that are just adapter cables, but they rely on the computer's port to actually output the other type of signal. The xbox's hdmi will only output hdmi. Your cheapest option is probably just buying a VGA cable that plugs into the regular AV port.

If you have a JTAG'd box running XBR, you don't need to use HDDHackr at all. Just pop it in.
There are some extra steps if you want XBOX1 compatibility, but no hddss.bin business.
