Its more than the temperature which they were cooked at, its things like: the clamp putting an unequal/uneven amount of pressure across the GPU causing stress fractures in the BGA, the lack of adequate cooling of the GPU, again causing warping and stress, the RAM can also suffer from cracked BGA, often it can be as simple as a SMD cap near the GPU is dry.
MS refer to it as a "General" error because there are so many possibilities.

you need to do a couple of things 1st.
you MUST know the address of your sata port which yoiu are connecting the Hitachi drive to.
you MUSt run it from a dos window.
Create a directory, something like c:\modeb and copy all the files to it.
press start, run (or windows key and R) type in cmd and press ok.
navigate to the c:\modeb directory and then run the file with your sata port after it. ie mode_b A000 (if A000 were your sata port)
from here on, read the readme.

try making a new folder in your c: drive and copying all the files to it, we'll call it x360 for argument,
copy all the files you need into it, press windows key and R (open a run dialog) and then type CMD and pres enter.
type cd \x360 (or what u call it)
you will need: firmtool, your original .bin file you have extracted, and the file you wish to put your key into.
type firmtool orig.bin hacked.bin (substitute your own names...) and you SHOULD be ready to go.
so literally type (without the quotes) firmtool orig.bin hacked.bin (substitute ur own names again)
the help can be misconstrued @ times to say you need 3 file names, you only need 2.

will using a screwdriver to bridge r707 give me a electric shock thanks
Yes it will, there is upwards of 3000 volts running through that small piece of board, not only will it fry your console, it will throw you about 12 foot in the process. take it to a professional, its cheaper than the hospital bill.

You know dude, if i were C4EVA, i'd b the one sitting back and laughing right about now.
Actually, the mere fact that 1 man, has raised the ire and ignited the emotions and imagination of such a "superior" bunch of technical geniuses to the point where they try and use US Military security in a DVD rom drive, which, in all honesty backfired on them.
The key SHOULD be the most securely held piece of data in the drive, not the flash. So what if you need to replace a drive, MS still lost.
To C4EVA, congratulations. All these guys(@ MS) should now, hopefully, be $#!t canned and a new crew employed.
May i suggest tiros, robinsod, 7thson, C4EVA, ARAKON and Podger all submit their curriculum vitae asap.
Then, it may never be hacked, but atleast the f***ing hardware would be reliable.

why? we don't take any responsibility for people who stab screwdrivers into their console either. if you want to f*** with this stuff, you f*** at your own risk.
Unfortunately, people judge a forum on the ppl they see posting and making the most noise, unfortunalely the loudest "noise" around here is giggles, and with the quality of his "suggestions" lately, it definately does not reflect well on the overall accuracy and quality of the information which is disseminated through the rest of the posts. Point taken - Modder Beware - you tool with it at your own risk and expense, however when ppl do such amazingly stupid things based on the advice of an barely pubescent wannabe........
