so, is it a question then what those people want? no, they only want pirated games.
and voila, they have it. that keeps the "modchip industry" alive.
oh, and about the rebooter, it is a big milestone, but not many have interest in it. it does not helps them get theyr pirated stuff working on this thing.
so, was I wrong or not? of course i was not wrong.
the mini-image for a game is impossible atm for a game. probably when something simular will be available technicaly a hdd-loader style pirate tool will be allready released.

i'm no dumbass, i perfectly know the drive hack was not ment to enable piracy.
but fact is, the only real use of drivehack is for pirates. and 9 of 10 visitors have no other desire than downloading and burning games. You must be a dumbass to not realise this.
or did I miss something? some people -respect to them- realy don't want anything else than preserv originals, thats why they wanna play backups.
the rest are 1. doing research (probably only a few) 2. just wanna download , burn, play. (majority of visitors)
these are facts. realise it.

I do more than enough, on this forum and behind the scenes. I keep this forum going, I remove spammers, scammers, etc, day in and out. if you are too stupid to see that the only people I actually attack are people who could've gotten the answers with a 20 second search, or asking downright idiotic questions such as "when will c4e release a liteon firmware" or "will MS destroy my console with the next update", I can't help you. you, on the other hand, have spent the past several days whining like a little bitch about the oh-so-bad 360 with its rrod. that is supposed to be helpful? as I offer everyone: if you don't like this forum, get the f*** out. you don't have a privilege to use it, you are tolerated to use it. can't handle my style? go whine to someone else. I don't care.
and nothing is more pathetic than a person that wants to deliberately harm children. there's nothing lower than such a creature. with that suggestion of yours you have forfeit the right to be considered a human being in my eyes.
*behind the scenes* okay mr forum admin, lol... Yeah, you sacrifice a lot in the effort not to set up auto-prune script, and a simple warning to use the damn search function, I bet its a hard work useing this premade forum script, and yes, it must be a hard work of being a bastard 24/7 Most effort seems to be from your side is to figure out how to post, without answering questions. I just simply love it when someone asks something, and You give an answer thats not related to the question. bad xbox360 is not whinening. its a fact. yes, its helpful. --> don't buy it, thats 100% rrod proof. allso, giggles is a child too. So -from your view- you are not even human. so what if i'm tolerated? thats a choice of free will. on the other hand, you are not a choice of free will. Looser.

not just usage is important. I know a few who had no issues, bought not long after the launch.
they don't use hd resolution. --> less work for gpu, less heat, and thats all. when i was working on a proper cooling my test was 168 hour continous gears of war at full resolution.
that stress is what i consider a good test. I bet no stock machine will survive it.
so yes, best solution is not to buy the damned thing until they make it proper.

There is no sound support yet and no graphics acceleration support. Linux is not really usable in any decent way as it is, and likely won't be till more of the graphics and sound system is figured out. It wouldn't make for a good livingroom computer due to heat and its limitations, not to mention the noise level.
Ye, thanks.. I think Ill just store it away for now, until the possibility of a more resourcegiven Linux system for it in the future.. linux on xbox makes just as much sense as a pinguin in africa. Even if things where in a state when its usable, You would loose the ability to play games on the box, and.. becouse of the xbox 360 hardware faults that still exsist it would go rrod sooner or later. say.. an explotable xbox will cost around 250-300 us$ (at least here, so STFU before trying to argue with it) for that You can get a cheapoo used computer that can run the stupid linux properly.

I love this idea. Make a site, the "hack" in question mostly here does only and only enable piracy, and nothing else.
and when someone posts something related to pircacy, people act like if.. they where not even close to a pirate. I bet You don't have annnny burned disc whitout an original, nor any mp3 downloads, lol...
why not just tell the guy that the original purpose was not piracy, and no one will help in that.
about drive mulator, it can be done, but emulating 1 file, or 30 files, or a whole disc is equaly hard. Now that a game can be ripped to hard drive, it may seem a bit easyer, but it is not.
I once stated -and did it well- that emulateing a dv drive is possible, but not feasable.

well.. as a hardware design xbox 360 is a disaster. it is assembled badly too.
You don't have to do anything wrong with it to broke it. Simply tunring them on is a risk of faliure.
MB is motherboard btw, and rrod is the most common error, it means something got overheated /not Your fult, crapy design-assembly/ and the solderballs under gpu or other component crackt.
If You can, try to get Your money back from the shopkeeper, or as soon as You get a new xbox 360 sell it. No real fix for xbox 360 hardware faults exsist, later on jasper revisions *may* overcome this. But since ms is aware of these problems from launch of xbox 360, and does not give a damn about it, I would say go buy something else. Anything else.

or just forget the dumb evox, and use unleashX. pulg in the network, from then You can use unleashX dashboards own skin installer/downloader.
//allso gigs, if You plug in a usb stick to xbox, it will be formatted for xbox usage. --> computer will not be able to write to it, different fat system. There are software to do it, but unleashx built in installer is a quicker choice.

there whre these "tales" about how bad is softmodding, but mostly they where started becouse console "modders" or "chip install dudes" did never liked the idea that anyone can mod a box who can burn a cd-r, turn 6 screws, and plugg a hdd to a pc. the fact that it costs only 15 minutes and zero knowledge is not good for busines. it is clumsy to install a chip for something that the original device can do just as fine. for the starter of the topic: http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/search.htmlthe cheapest one is 10$ , + shipping. but its not in stock. duox2 lite is i stock for the same price. http://www.quantronics.com.au/support/moddiagram/xbox/duox2-lite/duox2lite_v1.6.jpgthats the install diagram. not hard, but i bet unpluggind an ide cable 2 times, and brning and booting a cd-r is faster then disassembling the box itself. and copying of the files takes less than 20 secunds. chip -> no, not faster, not safer not cleaner. and no, there are no extra features. even now one ay find chips at the price of 60-80 us$, while anyone with a bit of electronics knowledge should know they work allmost the exactly same way. they can be reproduced for cheap, but it just makes no sense as the disc I described will work with any xbox. even if You have to read the tutorials it takes about 30 minutes to complete things, and there are no problems ever. the lazy savegame exploit was made for lazy people. if You can acces one modded box, just get the savegames on the memory card, and then You don't even need to open the box. But since memory cards are not common nowdays, nor the original games needed for the exploit, its easyer to do the hot-swap methood. or if its planned to be used as a linux machine a usb mod would be required /off course for inux a far stronger computer can be obtained for the same price.. not worth it now/ wich would allow to use a simple pendrive as memory card.. this "what suits You" thingy.. I dunno, ripoffs don't suit me. and chips are ripoffs in most cases, couse anyone can achieve the same thing with software. some said chips can be live proof. They can be turned off for live usage. right. there are options to install softmod to behave as an unmodded box when started with open tray. yeey. the only extra -the unlocked hdd option- is worthless in this case, as large hard drive + live is not going to work with any softmod/chip. besides that just use xlink. mm.. I don't say Your point is bad or something, I just still don't see why would it be good to pay for something that can be achieved faster, and free. I think those "modder / chip installer guys" did realise this, thats why those tales about how bad is a softmod being started. Since who the hell would pay them if everyone would know its a ripoff? tell me just one usefull thing that a chip can do, and a softmod can not. I did point out error 16 as something most chips can not fix, but softmod can. And.. just how long it takes to disassemble the box, and re-assemble to install a chip? is it shorter than burning a ~20 Mbyte iso to disc and doing the hotswap? no, it is not.

conclusion: linux -> made for servers, it rocks as a server
windows -> is $#!t, but at least can do basic stuff , and is better, with more functionality as a desktop os than linux.
for desktop, use a desktop os. For server, use a server os.
//alternaive way: for hauling goods, use a truck. for going fast, use a sports car.
Linux is the truck, it has many hp just like a sports car. wich is windows. sportscars tend to broke down often than vans/trucks, but they go faster. And, a sportscar is not made to haul heavy goods. A truck is not made to go fast. /despite the horsepowers../

Btw Gigabyte, you don't live that far from me. I'm in Wandin North, about 15 minutes away. Have a good one mate.
100 bucks if you kill him by headshot. 200 bucks if you make it look like an electronics-related accident. Sound good? LOL I love when "master smart ass" is trying to play a joke on giggles.. Truth is, Arakon, You are not even as helpful as giggles. infact, giggles is funny, and You are pathetic, rude, and hopeless. You, (yes arakon, mean him) should just shut Your f***ing mouth up, gtfo, whatever. You do not know much more than giggles, and You are not helping anyone with Your bull$#!t replys. All You do is tell people how stupid they are. Don't worry, they know it, thats why they ask. My favourite is when someone asks something, and You (arakon) reply something that is not even closely related to the question. You know what? wanna do a service for man kind? ask someone to give You a head shot. And please.. if You happen to have children, get a bullet for them too.. I promise, afterward You will gain a lot of reputation for the only reasonable thing in Your pathetic life. yeey. If You got balls to do it, make a thread, asking people who found Your comments usefull and not rude to post there. You will be amused, by the ratio of Yours post count and the replys.

only true way to f*** up a softmod is to unlock the drive and not have the eeprom.bin. After You got the eeprom.bin, it does not mather what You do. You can even throw away the drive, You can allways pick up an otherone and simply lock it, and install. Take a look at one of the "installers" xml file to see why. A softmod can be done without splinter cell, or other game. and does not require any soldering. In fact, its for free. And still, the only extra it could give is unlocked hdd usage. the most simplest way to install softmod is the good old hot-swap methood, and xboxhdm. basicly You need SID -get it from xbins- savegame. look for the softmod.rar archive. extract this into xboxhdm's C folder. //search, and You will find.. LOL..// search for unleashx.rar and extract it into C folder too. rename menu.xbe to evoxdash.xbe make an other folder , and extract apps.rar from the savegame. place contents into xboxhdm's E folder. use make-iso-win.bat //or what and burn this disc. do the hotswap http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/548462 like here. when all booted, and You booted the disc on Yours computer launch xbrowser. If You are familiar with total commander it will be easy. now.. just delete all crap on the hdd, and from the xboxhdm disc C folder copy everything to xbox C drive, and then copy all from xboxhdm disc E drive to xbox E drive. Shutdown, and done. Nothing to f*** up. I think most people are more familiar with total commander, disc burning, and plugging a hdd cable than installing a chip. Notices: 1. a slpash of solder can ruin a board. OR solderless chips still have a good price //if You can find any, that is....// 2. this costs as much as a blank cd-r. LOL. 3. this can fix error 13-20 nad 21 in most cases. //the clock not set stuff at error 16. I know couse I did it few days ago. only certin chips can boot past error 16, so not all of them will fix this error, while softmod WILL allways. 4. it offers the verry same as any modchip, expect for locked drives. But after backing up eeprom.bin /or writeing up Yours hdd lock code/ it makes no difference, You can have a blown hdd, just get a new one, and lock it.. LOL... oh, and not all chips fix error 16. 5. Exploit savegame -> look at the installers config.xml, the savegame does the same. Extracts the stuff to hdd, and thats all... so the original of splinter cell, or agent under fire 007 is NOT needed. 6. most people may not have a soldering iron at home, I bet more of them have a styupid burner, and a blank disc, and Torx 20 Torx 10. nothing else is needed. no wires, no soldering small parts, no disassembly expect for cover, nothing. its simple, straight forward. well some chips offer some special features, like a small lcd screen wich is absolute useless junk as it only adds some visuals, and nothing more. so I would say only use a mod chip if: 1. You don't have Your hdd key / eeprom.bin and hdd has went bye bye -> nooob 2. You wanna use unlcoked drives /I'm pretty sure most people don't even upgrade, so its useless as a feature for most people, and if someone do want's to upgrade, just get a lockable hdd. search for an online list of xbox compactible hdds. mod Yours original, get the eeprom.bin, afterwards You can prepare the larger drive without any problems. And if it fails later, just pop in the old one until You get a new big drive. or em I missing something? modchips do not offer enything else. just the unlocked hdd. thats the only extra, and its ommitable.

wrong. softmod, and backup eeprom.bin.
than even if the hdd goes byebye, You can pop in a new one. since You will be able to lock a new drive.
Most people think "modchip will allow so much more!" .> rubbish bull$#!t. the only thing a modchip can allow more than a softmod is unlocked drives. other than that there is nothing.
so, softmod, backup eeprom.bin, and lock a nice new big drive. LOLz.
and thats all.

I hate x360. I do love the "tech sheet" side, but other than that only problems it has..
1 is the ultra crap design, and it costs high to make it work right. //I experimented a lot with cooling, it turned out to be a faliure.. I can't do it without a replacement case. And that way it has high costs. -> most people will not pay for that.
2 lack of homebrew, and soon a not-so-highly priced pc will have just as good graphics as x360 now.-> and more software.. so x360 will become useless without proper homebrew
3 some games allready have issues with the funny 512 Mbyte memory size... if someone likes to digg and it was not deleted, I made a post about this way back then. 512 Mbyte ram is not enough. it will limit this crap badly.
this links to SeventhSons reply.
I just think ms made an almost nice device, wich turns out to be a waste of resources.
and I think x360 will only have any value when the "single chip" variant comes out. //Logical would be that the cpu/gpu chip will be placed where the cpu is now, thats a more roomy place for some cooling-> at least the hardware will not be crap anymore.
but, by that time x360 and its hardware will be out dated, possibly it will be better choice to get a simple computer.................. or the styupid toaster sony made might get hacked / or get proper homebrew, wich will end the x360 mania completly.
I'm crying out loud, why couldn't ms just use a bigger case, and make a proper cooling solution? and why are they jerqs? they could have offered some simple tools to make homebrew, maybe a custom compiler or simular, and let people use a virtual machine with 1 of the cores and say.. half of the memory to make homebrew, that would have prevented most hack attempts, as it would not be any value expect piracy. and those who are able to make progress are not intrested in piracy.... Or.. in worst case get xbmc coded to x360, and let people download from live.. //well... a modded xbmc, that is... or make a proper media player Lol..
other thing I never did understand is this.. "get linux working" on consols. Why would anyone like that? Linux was and is rubbish and absolute worthless in any means as a desktop os. It rocks as a server, and thats a fact. lets just keep it that way, let it be a server. why is it good on xbox 360? You can not use it as a linux machine and play games, its logical to use x360 to play games, and if someone is soooo in love with the linux, go and burn a live disc and use it with Yours pc. What productive use does linux an xbox 360 has? any logical use, anything that makes sense? well nothing. no way anyone would need an xbox 360 just to hae linux running on it. //it is fun to run it say.. for the first few times, than its not even fun.
xbox 360 will decay, eighter becouse it won't get homebrew, or becouse people will get fed up with the ultra crap design. or, just becouse of ram limits.....
xbox1 still lives, its a verry good hardware, and yesssssss its usefull. even now that ms had dumpted it. I still see them, some use tham as a simple NAS server //modchip allowing unlocked drives, used as NAS server, or web server, at least linux makes sense in that case, LOL
or as simple media players.. xbmc that is.
in any aspect xbox 360 is starting to not make any sense. GTA 4 showd that this smalla mount of memory will not be able grant a long life to this product. newer games will require more. as a usefull homebrew box //like the good xbox1 is// will never work, security is fine on thisone. as a simple un-modded thing, a game console , this product sucks becouse of crap hardware quality and soon the ram limit problem
so then what in the world will keep this product alive? developers would choose it, but the only thing that was achieved with xbox 360 is an unrelayable box wich can run copyd games. thats not good for a developer. nor for a publisher. from publishers view sony is still a better choice. that has problems too, but at least piracy free... offcourse that hardware has not enough juice for big titles wich should look as good as possible....
wii sucks too, but at least it is relayable, and is far more fun. I got one, and I think its the best out of the 3..... simply becouse: ps3 -> allready weak hardware, it can not offer enough...... for its price. xbox360-> I hate it, every single minute its turnd on its a risk of 3 led, anytime dvd drive spins up its a risk of dead laser, who the hell enjoys a game when the crap can broke down anytime? wii-> well, its ugly. the controllers look like if they where made for sime alien organics... but its stable, the games are fun, it offers unique solutions not preseted in any of current consoles. Allso...it does offer homebrew. //notice, linux on ps3 is not homebrew, and is a useless piece of $#!t. yeah, YEEY it runs, just what the hell would it be good for me? right. makes no sense. -> allso linux was never a homebrew.
so the most pointless rubbish currently on the market besides apple products is the xbox 360. and as time passes, it will be even worst.

You likely need to do an actual reflow not a "point a heatgun and pray". I had this on a bad GPU BGA and was fixed with an actual reflow. I've seen your method - you are not doing a reflow and should not claim it as such. All your doing is baking the board thereby swelling connections which allows it to work (possibly) for an indeterminate (read: short) amount of time.
My tutorial on how to do a reflow at home should be up soon. You could try that once I have it up.
Hm.. Is this some kind of easter egg?

instead of typeing dsam command, type "dir dsam.*" (without the " " offcourse)
if it says no file was found try this:
"attrib dsam.*
If it is still saying, that no file like that is found, it means You don't have the dsam thing in the folder You are trying to execute it, and/or is not in the path variable.
Hope that helps.
