in theory you should be able to flash then, because the 4.x firmware isn't the one the drive is "running" at the time, so the firmguard code isn't active.. or shouldn't be, at any rate.

if it isn't 256 kb in length, then the file isn't complete or damaged. don't try to flash it.

your disk is most likely full or damaged. it can't write the file to disk.

and to enable flashing of the drive if it's xtreme 4.x.

that chip can only fix a bad flash, but NOT physical damage to the hardware.

if you are lucky, it's only the flash chip. given you have the key, you can put a new chip in (or have someone do it). however it's possible that the CPU also got damaged. check for burn marks on all chips.

it's the CPU of the drive, pretty much impossible to get by itself and even more impossible to replace without some very specialized equipment. just buy a new drive.

the 3112 does NOT work reliably with the samsung and quite often freezes during flash.

all it does is allow you to access the hddvd movie data. you can't even play them cause there's simply no hddvd player software for PC.

you need to hexedit mtkflash for your chipset. there's about 500 postings on that, so read through those. ms28 has nothing to do with the mtkflash version, only that you need to use a "trick" to make it read/writable.
