that's downright idiotic. what if the guy uses ICS? changing the IP will f*** that up. what if he uses a router? changing the IP may f*** up his internet connection if the router is on a different IP range. I really suggest you refrain from giving people tips as the ultimate, universal solution, only because it works in your enviroment.

it's an old version of the evox bios. I think that version couldn't handle HDs over 137 GB yet, so if yours is bigger, you will need to flash to either evox m8 bios, or the xecuter bios.

the problem is, if something else was the reason why the fuse blew in the first place, this time around there would be nothing to stop it and it could blow up the PSU.. more or less literally, exploding big caps are NOT fun.

it should be the one of that same box. otherwise if it's softmodded, you can't use the HD anymore, unless it was locked in an app like evox or configmagic. and even if you unlock it, the box will not boot anymore cause it can't load from an unlocked HD, so you would have to find a way to lock the HD with the new key (from the new eeprom) first.

if you have the backup of the eeprom that came with the MB, that will work of course.. I am talking about Rogero's suggestion to flash a generic eeprom.. which will also break live compatibility, btw.
