Because if I did that, a $#!tload of threads that actually contain valuable info would be gone too. Just because a topic has reached the end of its usability doesn't mean it needs to be deleted, just not answered to any further.

pressed disks are much easier to read, so they may still work for a while when nothing else works anymore. the laser type is printed on the laser unit itself somewhere, then use that to search i.e. ebay, you'll find replacements for all drives there. you just need to remove the static protection solder blob at the back of it, then you can pop it in, no software changes needed.

you need to solder. xenon is the very first 360 model. if you have anything but a xenon, you will have to wait. if you already updated the console to dash version 84xx, you are out of luck and have absolutely no way to get the dvd key.
